TONI DAWKINS November 2006 What a brilliant weekend. Toni ran four groups altogether including a senior set and total puppies who had done nothing previously. ![]() 'Photo: KeithNoddle/Elddon.com' Toni spent time on a bit of everything for us. We learnt how Toni uses her arms as an early cue to tell the dog a turn is coming up and how she would teach wing wraps round a single jump. Toni also uses a 'steady' cue to ask the dog to add a dig stride for a turn and showed us in detail how to train this. Toni also begun to teach us her fabulous 'scoop' which really helped people whose dogs had a tendency to drift wide on some turns. Contacts- well we learned why Toni has such fab contacts. Her dogs have a total understanding of where they are supposed to stop and what their job is. The secret is in the specific criteria Toni has and her reinforcement at the bottom of contacts. Weaves were taught using channels. Toni also uses specially made 'guides' for her experienced dogs to help train tricky weave entries. The focus is on drive and getting the fastest line into the entry. Of course there was much, much more. BUT if you want to know it- you'll have to pay Toni for it! Toni is booked to come back to us in October 2007. Here are some comments from the day: Toni is a brill trainer and we all went away with lots to work on! "The BEST training day I have been on... and I've been on lots!" "thoroughly enjoyed it, took a lot away to work with" "I thought Toni was excellent" Some shots from the weekend:
